Work on the Downtown Chandler Waterline Replacement Project is set to begin on Tuesday, Sept. 8, beginning with the portion in the Russell Road area. This area includes all of Russell Road, from Plank to Gardner Roads, and along Gardner Road between Russell Road and State Street. This project is likely to cause lane restrictions during the construction phase, and will include paving where road cuts are necessary at the conclusion of construction work.
Ragle, Inc. has been awarded this project, which is multi-phase improvement project that’s been in the works since 2018. The entire length of the project for all phases is expected to be 18 months. Later phases will include waterline replacement along Washington Avenue through Chandler, from Fuquay/Greenwood to Plank Road; Williams Street; Adams Avenue; Monroe Avenue; Indiana and Illinois Streets; Community Center Drive; and portions of Jaycee Street and Walnut Avenue.
The Downtown Chandler Waterline Replacement Project was deemed necessary to replace deteriorating water mains that have reached the end of life, resolve issues with undersized mains, and to improve flows and fire protection services to residents and Chandler Utilities customers. As work begins and throughout the course of the project, we will update the public on any major road construction/restrictions or other emergency type situations as they arise.
