Chief Weisheit looking forward to retirement

Tuesday was the last day on the job for Chandler Police Chief Marlin Weisheit. Since joining the Town of Chandler five years ago, he’s worked to clean up dilapidated properties, crack down on drugs, and increase the amount of cases solved by the small department. This past year, he helped add one more officer to the Chandler Police force, a K-9 named Fado.

Monday night, officers from various local law enforcement agencies joined members of the community, friends, family, and town officials in congratulating Marlin on his retirement during a packed public reception hosted in his honor at the Chandler Community Center.

This marks the end of a 20-year career in law enforcement for Chief Weisheit, which began in 1992 with the Warrick County Sheriff’s Department. Previously, he worked for Peabody Coal and Essex Wire.

The Chandler Town Council has promoted Chandler Assistant Police Chief Bob Irvin to Interim Chief for the time being.
